Allen & Heath’s xone:02 has to be the most slept on scratch mixer in existence. It’s only now, several years after it’s introduction that heads are discovering the greatness of said mixer for themselves, perhaps due in some part to my somewhat glowing review. Capitalising on this, A&H are relaunching it, complete with the wonderful Pro X Fade AS STANDARD and also offering a custom faceplate service to boot.
The faceplates on show at MusikMesse are simply prototypes, testing out the idea and dry running the production process. The idea is to offer an upload service, where you can design your own plate and have it made by A&H. The plates themselves are metal and the design will be screen printed directly to the plate and finished off with a seriously tough laquer. Prices as yet are unknown as the final production process is being honed to provide the very best price/quality ratio.
So if you’re in the market for a xone:02, it might be worth holding on for a while until the PXF equipped models start to hit the streets. Good times indeed for the scratch scene.
thanks Giz…
