Commitment to Service & Excellence award May 2012 – Events by MV

May 11th, 2012

For the past 10 years agiprodj.com has been blessed to have the opportunity to help and serve many great DJ companies and entertainers. We strive to provide an unparalleled level of service and have a commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience just like many of our customers do. Putting the client/customer first and delivering an exceptional product is worthy of recognition which is why we have started the agiprodj.com award for Commitment to Service and Excellence. Each month in recognition of DJ’s that work hard to make their clients’ experience unforgettable, we will select and showcase a company that helps to set the example of excellence.

The first recipient of the Commitment to Service and Excellence award is Adrian Perryman of Events by MV. AGIPRODJ.COM sales manager Kevin (DJ Shmoo) got together with Adrian to find out more about Events by MV.

How did you choose the name of your Company, and why did you choose it?

The name of my company is Events by MV. I go by DJMV and I do all types of events. There wasn’t much research and development that went in to it. The name DJMV comes from high school football. I was the MVP of my team one year and my friends started calling me “MVP”. For a while I was DJ MVP but then Stagga Lee came out with that song “Roll with the MVP”. I wanted to avoid any association with that; even though at the time the only thing DJ related I was doing was burning CDs for friends and trying to afford any sort of equipment.

In what city(s) do you provide services?

I operate out of St. Paul, MN but I do events all over the state, mainly the Twin Cities and the surrounding suburbs.

What types of events do you focus on?

I focus on weddings. I do a decent amount of high school and college dances and a plethora of other types of events but I enjoy being a part of people’s big day.

When did you start DJ’ing?

I DJ’d my first event in 2003 or 2004. I was a freshman in college and a friend from high school asked me to DJ a house party. From there I did some dances at my college. Someone at those dances was a club promoter and asked me to DJ at a nightclub in downtown Minneapolis. The networking and honing of skills took off from there.

Everyone has preferences when it comes to gear, what do you rely on to make your events successful?

Dependability is key. I get so many texts from friends saying they are at a wedding and the DJ has CDS that are skipping or their computer crashed or their iPod died etc. I like having a large internal hard drive on my computer because so many things can go wrong with external drives. And I like to stay up to date on all of the possibilities with lighting and sound and pick and choose what would works best for my clients and myself.

What advice would you give to an aspiring mobile DJ?

Be humble and never stop learning. There is always someone doing something you aren’t so think ahead to what people will want in 5 years.

What future successes do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 – 10 years?

I want to be able to add more people to Events by MV. I have a hard time entrusting my set-up to others but as my equipment and clientele grows I am going to need help and it will be a great feeling to be able to provide a pay check for someone.

Please tell us about a favorite wedding or event memory that left a lasting impression on you:

I have many memories of guests telling me what a great time they had after an event that stays with me but it was a conversation I had at an event before I even pushed play that sticks out in my mind. It was a sweet 16 party and I had all of my equipment set up and utilized Uplighting to wash the room in pink. The mother entered the room and was close to tears as she thanked me and told me how beautiful the room looked for her daughter’s big day. I love being able to make the special events in people’s lives memorable for all who attend.

AGIPRODJ Customer Testimonials

February 7th, 2012

We asked a few customers of our to share why out of all of the DJ gear dealers out there, they choose to shop with agiprodj.com.

Here’s what JJ from New Mexico had to say about us:

I constantly hear DJ’s recommending AGIPRODJ video’s, and then they do something that baffles me. They send them to other stores that offer a 10% discount. When you add shipping and taxes, you end up paying more. More importantly, these other stores offer no support on the product before, during or after your purchase. You are more likely talking to a guitar specialist than a real DJ who has used the product. Offering more products does not make your store better. AGIPRODJ sales team has in-depth knowledge on EVERY product they sale. Plus, there is nothing worse than spending your hard earned money on DJ equipment to find out the manufacture will not fix it because you didn’t buy it from an authorized dealer.

In 2003, I bought my first DJ Equipment from Jason DeMoe at AGIPRODJ.com. Great Prices but even better service. I don’t live close to any DJ stores so I relied on AGIPRODJ’s hands on reviews, testimonials and videos. That tradition continued with Justin Sutter and later with Ty Buchanan, Rick and Kevin. They are all DJ’s in which I value there opinion. Plus, they will never try to up-sale you any equipment you don’t need.

Last February, I called AGIPRODJ to order some headphones after another pair of headphones had just broke on me. I was going to be using them for DJing and Production work, so I needed quality, clarity, isolation, bass and durability. AGIPRODJ talked me into buying the PIONEER HDJ-2000. I don’t really care for paying higher prices for brand names or so called “Industry Standard”. Plus the MAP price of the HDJ-2000 were too expensive for me. Rick went over 8 aspects on why the headphones would be perfect for me. “You won’t believe how light they actually are on your head. Plus Ty uses them.” Then he gave me a price I couldn’t refuse. After 1 year of use, not only is the HDJ-2000 magnesium alloy still durable, but I can comfortably wear them for hours while producing and remixing. I’m sure glad I have other DJ’s that have my back.

A few words from KC in the Bay Area…

Everyone wants to get the best deal but oftentimes can forget about “buyers remorse.” This happens because customers value cost savings over making a one time purchase which will last you until the next “big thing”.  For the past 5 years AGIPRODJ.com, has been the ONLY company that my group and I (BJP Entertainment) purchase equipment from.  We only purchase from them because Customer Service is outstanding, unquestionable and their priority.  If they can save you money, they will.  If you need it by a certain date, they will bend over backwards to try and accommodate.  It’s important to recognize that while their prices are already the lowest or match their competitors, the main benefit of purchasing with them is the Customer Service that is built into the price!

They are the “real deal” professional working DJ’s that are knowledgeable and have spent time with the products they sell.  It’s important for me to mention that they won’t sell you something without giving you alternatives, reviewing the pros and cons that have been field tested and won’t sell you junk.  This is important because they see things from a DJ’s perspective, understand what DJ’s need, and take the time to help you find what you need while working within your budget.  They don’t push or convince you to buy a CDJ-2000 because it’s the latest and greatest or because it has a light up jog wheel.  Instead they help you make an educated purchase so that you get exactly what you want and need without having to test the limits of your credit card.  Customer Service is built into the price so why pay the same or more but walk away with less?

From DJ 3PM…

I’ve been using AGIPRO for about 5 years and recommend them to anyone I know buying new gear. They are an authorized dealer for all my favorite brands like Rane, Serato, Numark, Chauvet, Blizzard, American Dj, … the list goes on and on. I know with an authorized dealer, and not some random seller on eBay or Craiglist, that if I have a problem down the road I will get prompt warranty repair. Best of all, I love the fact that the sales guys are actually dj’s themselves and DON’T work on commission. This means no pressure to buy a brand or product that isn’t what I truly need because the sales guys aren’t sharking for you or trying to earn a bonus.  Add that to the fact they will beat almost any price and NEVER charge shipping or sales tax, why the hell would I ever go to Guitar Center?

Day 3 recap of NAMM 2012

January 21st, 2012

Started off the morning with a nice walk around the JBL Harman booth going over all of the new stuff. Saw the new PRX400 passive speakers they are very cool. This is the speakers are great and we think this will replace the MRX line down the line. They look so and feel just like the PRX600 line from JBL. They come in PRX412M, PRX415M, PRX425, PRX418S.
Here is a over view on the line.

PRX400 passive speakers were designed to provide the sensitivity, frequency response and power handling needed to address a multitude of demanding audio environments while still being reasonably priced. For musicians, DJ’s, House of Worship, public address, or suspended in a commercial environment like a school or nightclub, they can be used with a powered mixer or a full rack of amps and signal processing, delivering the sound power and bandwidth necessary to make loud music sound natural and even quiet speech intelligible. Comprised of tour tested JBL components in rugged enclosures with professional connectors and suspension points, three 2-way designs and an 18″ sub-woofer tackle tough jobs affordably and professionally.
Frequency Range Frequency Response Coverage Pattern

Great stuff. Video will be up soon on agiprodj youtube channel.

We then went over to AKG saw some great killer wireless and wired mics. We saw a great supercardioid wired mic called the D5 comes with a stand and cable for only $119.00 MAP. Great deal make sure to pick this up. And watch the video we did on youtube.

Here is the info on this Mic we really like it and will have it in stock soon.
The WMS 40 Mini Vocal Set ensures brilliant sound and ease of use at an unbeatable price/performance ratio.
Unique HDAP (High Definition Audio Performance) technology ensures the best possible, most realistic sound at any time.

The SR 40 Mini receiver provides three status LEDs indicating ON/OFF status, received signal strength (RF OK), and audio clipping (AF CLIP). The VOLUME control sets the level at the ¼” output jack. The supplied switched mode power supply operates on any AC voltage from 110 to 240 VAC and includes EU, UK, and US adapters.

The rugged HT 40 Mini handheld transmitter features an ON/OFF/MUTE switch and a sturdy wire-mesh cap protecting the cardioid dynamic microphone element. Battery life of the transmitter is the same legendary “30 hours off a single AA battery” as for the WMS 40 models, reducing the need to replace batteries and thus saving real money in the long run.

Key features of the CDJ-2000 Limited

  • Supports music from any source and works intuitively with DJ software
The player supports various media formats, so DJs can simply plug and play music from laptops, USB keys, SD memory cards, CDs and digital files in multiple formats, including MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF.

DJs can play from our rekordbox™ software, directly from the player, for ultimate flexibility and creativity. rekordbox analyses the BPM and beat position of songs from your computer, allowing DJs to categorise music by genre and create playlists before a gig. Songs and playlists can be easily transferred from rekordbox to the player via USB, while cue and loop settings can be recalled during the set for truly crowd-pleasing performances.

Adding yet another layer of user-friendly flexibility to the CDJ-2000 Limited is the built-in PRO DJ Link, which removes the need for lots of connections and cables and allows DJs to concentrate on what they do best. Using just one LAN cable, DJs can connect up to four CDJ-2000s and instantly share music and data between the players. Plus, the DJM-900nexus can be linked to the players, so highly accurate BPM and beat location information can be sent straight to the mixer from the CDJ-2000s.

  • Delivers master-quality, club-standard sound
Accurate sound reproduction is guaranteed with the CDJ-2000 Limited’s master-quality, 24-bit/48 kHz sound card and high-efficiency, Wolfson Microelectronics-manufactured D/A converter, so DJs can deliver club-standard audio that will please even the most discerning ear.
  • Large, full-colour 6.1-inch LCD display
An oversized, full-colour screen enhances the CDJ-2000 Limited’s operability: playlists are easy to browse through; album artwork is clearly displayed; waveforms are instantly viewable; and track information can be read easily.
  • Needle Search™ function
Pioneer’s unique Needle Search function replicates the experience of using an old-school turntable – DJs simply touch the jog wheel at their chosen point in the track and press play.

Key features of the DJM-900nexus Limited

  • Four-channel sound card offers excellent input and output with no loss of sound quality
An integrated 24-bit/96 kHz USB sound card allows for pristine sound reproduction and eliminates the need for third-party audio interfaces, while the 32-bit digital processor ensures there is no degradation of the source audio. The mixer’s four input and four output lines operate simultaneously and the output signal path can be changed to suit DJs’ needs – whether they are performing, recording or producing.
  • Complete Traktor compatibility so DJs can simply plug in and play
Laptops can be connected to the mixer using just one cable, allowing DJs to instantly access Digital Vinyl Systems such as Traktor. The DJM-900nexus Limited’s output can be sent straight back to Traktor so DJs can record their mixes at the push of a button. Plus, Traktor’s timecode feature lets DJs spin and scratch digital files using vinyl and CD control without the Traktor sound card.
  • A wide range of high-definition effects for truly creative DJing
The DJM-900nexus Limited is home to the intuitive X-Pad, a touch-sensitive strip that allows DJs to simultaneously engage Beat Effects and adjust functions like Reverb, Roll Time and Phaser LFO – using just one finger. The X-Pad lends itself to truly brilliant performances, offering an instant trigger with Quantize timing for live edits that are perfectly on beat. And because there’s no longer any risk of using manually timed effects, it’s easier to be much more creative.
    Professional-quality effects include:

    • Reverb: Deliver processor-intensive reverbs without relying on unstable laptops. The Reverb function brings studio-quality effects with a two-minute tail, pitched room size control and input frequency filtering for crowd-stunning results.
    • Spiral: Create psychedelic breakdowns and interludes with a single hit using this pitch echo. Modeled on a tape delay effect, it offers the kind of stunning feedback looping usually only found in studio plugins.
    • Slip Roll: The ultimate beat-mashing tool, the Slip Roll effect puts rhythmic slicing right at DJs’ fingertips. Use the X-Pad to continuously re-sample and loop chunks of audio as you slide between loop sizes, perfectly in time with the beat.
  • Built-in Pro DJ Link enhances performances
Linking the DJM-900nexus Limited to a CDJ-2000 allows perfectly accurate BPM and beat location information to be exchanged between mixer and player, so effects can be applied without losing the beat. Status alert lights flash when the CDJ has been engaged, so DJs know when a track is playing out to the speakers. The true benefit of Pro DJ Link can be seen with Beat effects as they can apply rekordbox BPM and beatgrid information from compatible Pioneer DJ players to keep the effects in perfect time. Cue Link, meanwhile, acts as an additional audio channel so DJs can preview tracks through their headphones, straight from rekordbox.
  • Next generation durable fader
The DJM-900nexus series boasts Pioneer’s most robust faders to date offer the ultimate in durability both above and below deck. The internal fader component is positioned out of harm’s way, sparing it from drink spillages during performance, while the external P-Lock Fader Caps prevent the faders from slipping accidentally.
